The Hadra and Serein.e.s associations propose a workshop of sensitive mapping to exchange on the different spaces of the Hadra Trance Festival 2022.
A workshop of reflection and awareness to develop our spaces and strengthen the well-being of everyone on the festival.
The Hadra Trance Festival wants to be a festive space, free of any judgment, of any form of oppression and as safe as possible. However, we notice that there are still violent and/or worrying situations, especially regarding the notions of consent, sexuality and gender. That is why we want to be more involved in raising awareness and taking action to advance these issues in our organization.
To achieve this, we have the pleasure to be accompanied by the association Serein-e-s (association from Grenoble which seeks to create more egalitarian spaces for all at parties) during a workshop “sensitive mapping”, in chosen mixity (for women and gender minorities), with festival-goers of the Hadra Trance Festival 2022 edition.
→ To identify the spaces considered safe and non-safe at the festival
→ To get feedback from the users of these spaces
→ To understand the uses of the festival space according to the experiences, feelings and needs of the public
→ To bring out collective responses
→ To be able to develop our spaces afterwards in order to multiply the positive experiences of the festival and to feel serene.
- What is sensitive mapping?
Sensitive mapping is a tool that allows us to identify the representations and feelings of a person and/or a group in relation to a given space. It is not a matter of making an exact cartography, but of highlighting the most or least used spaces, the pleasant or potentially problematic spaces, and thus, to draw out collective knowledge in order to think together about possible answers and actions.
The objective of the chosen mixity is to free the speech of the oppressed and to allow these people to express their experiences, needs and feelings in the most egalitarian frameworks possible and thus, to make emerge tracks of reflection and tools of struggles. The chosen mix does not seek to exclude cis-gender men, it participates in the self-emancipation of women and gender minorities.
Serein-e-s is a non-profit association created in May 2019. Its objective is to raise awareness, to prevent and to fight against sexist and sexual violence and gender discrimination, especially in festive environments. We realized that the nightlife environment was not free of dominance relationships and that there were few specific tools to question them and fight against their effects (harassment, sexist aggressions, gendered uses of space…).
We thus created Serein-e-s to lead a global reflection in connection with the public and the professionals of the festive and cultural environments. Through stands, trainings or workshops, our ambition is the following: Inform, prevent violence and transform party places.
